No new signings have been welcomed at the Emirates Stadium this summer. Will the first be the Spanish midfielder who delivered excellent performances at Euro 2024?
English media reports today suggest that Arsenal has set its sights on 28-year-old midfielder Fabian Ruiz, who played a crucial role for Spain on their path to becoming European champions at this year's tournament in Germany. The Paris Saint-Germain player hails from Andalusia and began his career at Real Betis before moving to France from Napoli in 2022.
The question remains whether coach Luis Enrique is prepared to lose his compatriot this year, but PSG could earn around €40 million from his sale.
High on the wish list for the Parisians this year is young Portuguese midfielder Joao Neves, who is shining at Benfica and is eyeing a summer move to the French capital. If he arrives, the French champions might be more willing to part ways with Fabian Ruiz.
The Gunners aim to sell a few players before the end of summer, primarily Emile Smith-Rowe, to raise sufficient funds for new signings. Coach Mikel Arteta has not yet received any new players, but David Raya, who was on loan at Arsenal last season, has officially joined the Gunners from Brentford.
Arsenal finished the 2023/24 Premier League season in second place, once again behind champions Manchester City, led by Pep Guardiola.
