Milan supporters reacted emotionally after Luka Modrić’s latest message, urging the Croatian veteran to stay despite uncertainty surrounding his future.
Luka Modrić sparked fresh speculation about his future at Milan after publishing an emotional message on social media following a difficult season for the Rossoneri. The Croatian veteran thanked supporters for their backing and admitted disappointment with how the campaign ended, but many fans interpreted his words as a possible farewell.
Although Modrić never directly mentioned retirement or departure, the tone of the message created concern among supporters, who quickly flooded the comments section with messages urging him to stay for at least another season.
"You were the only good thing this season," wrote one supporter. Another added, "Stay with us, maestro." Many fans stressed that keeping Modrić inside the dressing room would remain valuable for a squad that struggled badly throughout the campaign.
One message attracted particular attention: "Thank you, Luka. You are an extraordinary person and an extraordinary footballer."
Modrić turns 41 in September, which naturally raises more questions about what comes next. According to reports from Italy, Milan still has the possibility of extending his contract, although no final decision has been made. Continuing at San Siro remains possible, another challenge elsewhere cannot be excluded, and retirement also remains on the table.
In his first season with Milan, Modrić made 37 appearances, scored two goals and provided three assists. The team failed collectively, missing out on the Champions League after a disappointing season, but among supporters the Croatian’s reputation remained untouched.
