AC Milan want to keep Manchester City defender Kyle Walker beyond this season, with a £3m bid likely as the 34-year-old nears the end of his loan deal.

AC Milan have decided to pursue a permanent deal for Kyle Walker, with the England international impressing since joining the Italian side on loan from Manchester City in January.

Walker, 34, had found himself on the fringes of Pep Guardiola’s squad earlier in the season and accepted a move to Serie A in search of more game time. Despite a recent injury layoff due to a broken arm, he has featured regularly for Milan, making 11 appearances in the league and playing key roles in Champions League and Coppa Italia fixtures.

According to reports in Italy, Milan are preparing a £3 million offer for the veteran full-back. With City reinforcing their defense in January by signing Abdukodir Khusanov, Walker is now seen as surplus to requirements at the Etihad, where he has one year left on his current contract.

Walker has enjoyed a new lease of life in Italy under coach Sergio Conceicao. He’s been deployed in various roles, including right wing-back and part of a back three, and was influential in Milan’s recent 3-1 comeback win over Bologna, coming on as a substitute with the team trailing.

The switch has also revived his England prospects. National team coach Thomas Tuchel gave Walker minutes during March’s international fixtures, reinforcing that the door remains open for a World Cup call-up.

Speaking recently on his podcast, Walker kept the door open for a potential Manchester City return, saying: “It’s not over. I’m just on loan here… the chapter’s not fully closed.” However, Milan are hopeful that a permanent deal can be reached this summer.

With Milan chasing European qualification and set for a Coppa Italia final showdown against Bologna, Walker’s experience and form could be vital. Should they lift the trophy, it would also secure a place in next season’s Europa League—possibly strengthening Milan’s pitch to keep the former Spurs and City man in Italy.
