Aleksandar Mitrović made a stunning return from injury, scoring in Al Hilal’s 2-0 win over Al Fayha and closing the gap on league leaders Al Ittihad.
The Saudi Pro League title race is far from over—at least not while Aleksandar Mitrović has a say. The Serbian striker returned to action after a two-month injury layoff and wasted no time reminding everyone of his goal-scoring prowess.
Coming off the bench in the 63rd minute, Mitrović was greeted with a standing ovation from the Al Hilal supporters. By the 89th minute, he had already made his mark, converting a Salem Al-Dawsari assist to seal a 2-0 victory against Al Fayha.
This was Mitrović’s 13th goal of the season, and it came at a crucial moment, as Al Hilal capitalized on Al Ittihad’s third consecutive draw, cutting the gap at the top to just four points with 10 matches remaining.
Meanwhile, Sergej Milinković-Savić was not in the squad for this match, while Brazilian midfielder Kanno opened the scoring for Al Hilal in the 18th minute.
With Mitrović back in form, the title race is wide open, and Al Hilal is firmly back in the hunt for Saudi Pro League glory.
