After Barcelona TV mocked Luka Modrić, the Croatian responded privately but powerfully, reminding critics of his six Champions League titles—more than Barça’s total in their history.

Luka Modrić has reportedly delivered a cold, sharp response to recent mockery from Barcelona's club television, which resurfaced after a sarcastic jab about his mistake in last season’s Copa del Rey final.

During a recent Barcelona friendly against Seoul, a commentator on Barça TV made a dismissive remark: “We didn’t pay the respect that Luka Modrić deserves. His last big move was the pass to Koundé in the King’s Cup final.”

The dig referred to the Real Madrid legend’s mistake that led to Barcelona’s winning goal in the final, his last major appearance in El Clásico. The comment was widely seen as an attempt to diminish the legacy of one of the most decorated players in football history.

But according to Defensa Central, a Real Madrid-centric outlet, Modrić did not take the insult lightly. Although he didn’t respond publicly, he allegedly addressed the disrespect in a private message to friends who shared the clip with him.

“I’ve won more Champions Leagues than they have in their history… I don’t care what they say,” the Croatian is quoted as saying.

Modrić won six Champions League titles with Real Madrid during his 13-year spell at the club, which officially ended this summer. In contrast, Barcelona has five Champions League trophies in its entire history.

During his career at Real, Modrić made 38 appearances against Barcelona: 16 wins, 5 draws, and 17 losses. Despite a slightly negative record in El Clásico, his dominance in Europe is indisputable. He departs Real Madrid as the most decorated player in the club’s history with 28 major trophies.
