With Mohamed Salah’s rift with Arne Slot unresolved, Saudi Pro League clubs are preparing record-breaking bids, viewing Liverpool’s turmoil as the perfect opening for a transfer.

The situation between Mohamed Salah and Liverpool coach Arne Slot is reaching a breaking point, and Saudi Arabia is watching closely. Reports suggest that several Saudi Pro League clubs are ready to move for the Egyptian superstar if his relationship with Slot cannot be repaired.

Salah, who only signed a new contract in April worth an astonishing £400,000 per week until 2027, has found himself at the centre of a growing storm. His public disagreement with Slot and subsequent exclusion from the Champions League squad for the Inter Milan match — which Liverpool won 1-0 — have raised serious questions about his future at Anfield.

Despite his contract security, the tension between player and coach shows no signs of easing. Liverpool remain hopeful that Salah will return to the team soon, but if the stalemate continues, the door could open to a dramatic transfer abroad.

Saudi Pro League CEO Omar Mugharbei has already made the league’s stance clear: “Mohamed Salah is welcome in the Pro League, but the clubs are the ones who negotiate with the players. Salah is definitely a target.”

According to reports from the Middle East, three clubsAl Hilal, Al Qadisiyah, and NEOM FC — are all monitoring the situation. Al Hilal, already home to Neymar and Rúben Neves, remain the frontrunners, while NEOM — the newest addition to the Saudi elite — is rumoured to be ready to break the league’s transfer record for Salah. Al Ittihad famously offered £150 million for him in 2023, but Liverpool rejected the approach at the time.

While there has also been talk of interest from Major League Soccer in the United States, sources close to the player suggest that MLS clubs simply cannot compete financially with the Saudi offers. The Pro League, however, sees Salah as its dream signing — a player capable of uniting the Arab world’s footballing fanbase and strengthening Saudi Arabia’s global football project.

For now, Liverpool’s stance remains firm: Salah is not for sale. But if relations with Slot deteriorate further, that position could become harder to defend — especially if the Saudis return with an irresistible offer.
