Jose Mourinho is too passionate to walk away from football, says Geremi, who believes the Fenerbahce boss still has what it takes to win the biggest games in the world.
Jose Mourinho may be facing frustrations at Fenerbahce, but those who know him best believe retirement isn’t even an option. Former Chelsea midfielder Geremi, who played under the Portuguese coach at Stamford Bridge, says the “Special One” still has the fire to compete at the very highest level.
Mourinho, 62, is currently under contract with Fenerbahce and has made it clear he’s focused on bringing success to Istanbul, despite recent signs of visible frustration. The former Real Madrid, Inter, Manchester United, and Porto boss is still chasing trophies—and Geremi insists that won’t change anytime soon.
“Jose Mourinho cannot retire this summer,” Geremi told BoyleSports. “He loves football too much, and I can’t imagine him being away from the football pitch.”
The Cameroonian icon added: “He might want a rest, but make no mistake—he’ll be back with a new challenge. He’s still younger than many managers and has the character to win the biggest games in the world.”
Mourinho has faced increasing scrutiny about whether his methods still deliver consistent silverware, but few can rival his track record: major titles in Portugal, England, Spain, and Italy, and a legendary status in modern coaching.
As Fenerbahce prepare for the season ahead—and Mourinho continues to silence doubters—the consensus remains clear: Jose is not done yet.
