Mourinho wants Schlotterbeck
According to German outlet Bild, Mourinho has identified Nico Schlotterbeck as one of his preferred defensive targets.
The Borussia Dortmund defender has been admired by Real Madrid for several years, but previous attempts to bring him to Spain never materialized.
Now, with Mourinho pushing for defensive reinforcements, the German international is reportedly back on the agenda.
The 26-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the Bundesliga and remains a key figure for both Dortmund and Germany.
Recent contract complicates deal
Real Madrid's interest comes only months after Schlotterbeck committed his future to Dortmund.
In April, the defender signed a new long-term contract that runs until 2031.
