Real Madrid could be on the verge of completing the biggest transfer in the club's history.

According to reports from England and Spain, the Spanish giants are preparing an official offer for Enzo Fernandez, with Chelsea expected to demand around €140 million for the Argentine midfielder.

If the deal is completed at that figure, Fernandez would become the most expensive signing ever made by Real Madrid, surpassing the €127 million paid for Jude Bellingham.

Mourinho's priority target

New Real Madrid coach José Mourinho reportedly views Fernandez as the key piece in his midfield rebuild.

The Portuguese manager is said to admire the Argentine's combination of technical quality, physical presence, passing range, and leadership qualities.

Reports suggest Fernandez has already informed those close to him that a move to Madrid would be his preferred destination if he leaves Chelsea this summer.

" Enzo Fernandez has made it clear that he wants to leave Chelsea this summer. His priority is Real Madrid," several reports claim.

From Benfica to world champion

Fernandez joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023 in a deal worth approximately €121 million.

Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, he has established himself as one of the Premier League's most influential midfielders despite Chelsea's inconsistent performances.

The former River Plate academy graduate is already a world champion with Argentina and remains one of the central figures in the national team's plans.

Across all competitions, Fernandez has made 169 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 31 goals and providing 30 assists.

Madrid's spending spree continues

Real Madrid has already been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer market.

The club has reportedly strengthened several key positions, bringing in players such as Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries and Bernardo Silva.

Fernandez would represent another major statement of intent as Mourinho attempts to build a squad capable of reclaiming domestic and European dominance.

With negotiations expected to intensify in the coming days, Madrid supporters are now waiting to see whether the club is prepared to make history with a record-breaking investment.
