New York City FC will open its $780M Etihad Park in 2027, becoming NYC’s first soccer-specific stadium. The 25,000-seat venue reflects the club’s City Football Group ties.
New York City FC has announced plans to move into its own state-of-the-art stadium in 2027, making history as the first-ever soccer-specific stadium in New York City, one of the world’s largest and most influential cities.
Currently, NYCFC plays its home matches at Yankee Stadium, home to the iconic baseball team, and occasionally at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, when scheduling conflicts arise. However, starting in 2027, the club—featuring Slovenian defender Mitja Ilenič—will call Etihad Park its permanent home.
The stadium, which will have a capacity of 25,000, comes with a price tag of $780 million. The naming rights were secured as part of a 20-year deal with Etihad Airways, one of the main sponsors of the City Football Group, which owns NYCFC. The partnership reflects the close ties between the club and its UAE-based sponsors.
Etihad Park will provide NYCFC fans with a world-class venue dedicated solely to football, a significant step for the sport in the United States and a landmark achievement for the Big Apple.
