Napoli is eager to extend Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's contract but faces challenges as the Georgian star’s camp demands a release clause of €80 million.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia continues to impress this season at Napoli, making it difficult for the Italian club to hold onto him. Napoli, however, is making serious efforts to secure his future with the team. The 23-year-old Georgian star, often referred to as Kvaradona, is rumored to be on the radar of bigger clubs, and Napoli aims to use their title ambitions to negotiate a new contract with him.
Kvaratskhelia is open to an improved salary, with Napoli proposing €5 million per season, which would increase by €1 million annually. The sticking point, however, is the release clause. Kvaratskhelia's representatives want a clause set at €80 million, a figure that Napoli finds excessive, delaying the contract extension as negotiations continue.
This past summer was turbulent for Napoli, as both Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen were rumored to be eyeing departures. In the end, only Osimhen left, on loan to Galatasaray. Both players are expected to attract attention again in the summer of 2025, with Premier League clubs eyeing Osimhen and Real Madrid and PSG following Kvaratskhelia closely.
In Serie A this season, Kvaratskhelia has scored five goals and provided two assists in ten appearances, further bolstering his value and appeal.
