The Brazilian rarely speaks in such terms, but Yamal’s performances have clearly made a deep impact.
"I truly believe that Lamine Yamal is the greatest teenage football phenomenon the world has ever seen," Neymar said.
He even placed the young Spaniard ahead of other iconic names.
" Before, we had Lionel Messi, then people talked a lot about me, but what Lamine is doing at the age of 18 is incredible," he added.
Neymar also reacted to Barcelona’s elimination from the Champions League against Atletico Madrid, admitting disappointment for the young forward.
"I was really sad for him. He gave everything, scored, started the comeback, but football is unpredictable," Neymar said.
Despite the setback, Neymar made it clear he expects Yamal to reach the top very soon.
"His time is coming. I hope he wins the Champions League next year. Why not the Ballon d'Or? He is incredible," he said.
