Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has pulled off a stunning move, extending Morgan Gibbs-White’s contract despite offers from Tottenham and interest from Manchester City.

Evangelos Marinakis has made one of the boldest moves of the summer transfer window, ensuring that Morgan Gibbs-White remains at Nottingham Forest despite a major bid from Tottenham and serious interest from Manchester City.
Spurs were reportedly ready to spend over €60 million for the 25-year-old attacking midfielder, and even believed they had triggered a release clause in his contract. Forest quickly countered with legal threats and launched negotiations to tie down one of their most valuable players.
On Saturday night, Marinakis shocked the football world by announcing that Gibbs-White has signed a new long-term deal with Forest. This ends transfer speculation and represents a major victory for the club ahead of the new Premier League season.
"Morgan is a special player, not only in terms of talent, but also in terms of character and mentality," said Marinakis. "He is a winner, he is ambitious, proud, and he knows no fear. He represents what we want at this club."
The Greek billionaire added that Forest had no intention of selling their star, and that the new contract reflects their ambitions to compete and grow year after year. Gibbs-White, an England international, has become a fan favourite at the City Ground and will now remain central to Nuno Espírito Santo’s plans moving forward.
With both Tottenham and Manchester City now left to look elsewhere, Nottingham Forest have sent a clear message to the rest of the league: they're no longer a selling club.
