David Moyes has officially returned to Everton, the club he previously managed for 11 years, following the dismissal of Sean Dyche.
The 61-year-old Scottish manager is back at Goodison Park after more than a decade away.
Everton’s new ownership decided to part ways with Sean Dyche after a disappointing start to the season that left the club in 16th place in the Premier League. Moyes, who was in charge of Everton from 2002 to 2013, now steps in with hopes of turning the club’s fortunes around.
During his first spell at Everton, Moyes managed 518 games across all competitions, building a reputation for stability and consistency. His success at Goodison Park earned him the Manchester United job in 2013, but his tenure there ended prematurely after less than a year. Following his exit from United, Moyes briefly coached in Spain with Real Sociedad before returning to England to manage Sunderland.
Moyes then took charge of West Ham United twice, first from November 2017 to May 2018, and later from December 2019 to June 2024. During his time with the Hammers, he led the team to significant success, including winning the 2022/23 UEFA Conference League, the only major trophy of his career so far. In total, he managed West Ham in 230 games, cementing his status as one of the Premier League’s most experienced coaches.
Upon his return to Everton, Moyes expressed his excitement: "It's great to be back! I've had eleven wonderful and successful years here at Everton, so I didn't hesitate when they offered me the opportunity to return."

Everton fans will be hopeful that Moyes can recreate the stability he provided in his first spell and steer the club away from relegation trouble.
