Raphaël Varane has announced that he will be leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season.

His contract with Manchester United is set to expire, and the club has chosen not to extend it for an additional year. Varane spent three years with the Red Devils, having previously been regarded as one of the world's best defenders during his tenure at Real Madrid. However, his time in England was plagued by injuries.

When Varane was available, he generally made a positive impact, but his frequent injuries meant he was often sidelined. He will depart after making 93 appearances in all competitions.

As a member of Real Madrid, Varane won four Champions League titles, three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and four FIFA Club World Cups. With the French national team, he became a World Cup winner and a UEFA Nations League champion. At United, his only silverware was the League Cup.

"When I first came to Old Trafford as a Manchester United player, it was crazy. The atmosphere was incredible. I fell in love with the club and the fans. You have to play for Manchester United to understand what it means. For my children, this is home. This will be a special place for me for life. Sharing this moment with them [Carabao Cup win last season] was absolutely incredible."

Manchester United recently acquired ambitious new co-owners who aim to return the club to the top of English and European football.

"Despite having a tough season, I am very positive about the future. The new owners are coming with a clear plan and great strategy. We will see each other at Old Trafford where we will say goodbye at the last home game of this season. It will definitely be a very emotional day for me."
