Slovenian striker Nejc Gradišar has completed a sensational transfer to African giants Al Ahly, signing a lucrative four-and-a-half-year contract.
It’s official—Nejc Gradišar has completed one of the most remarkable transfers ever involving a Slovenian footballer. The young striker, who just a year ago was playing for NK Rogaška, has successfully passed his medical in Cairo and signed with Al Ahly, the most successful club in Africa, often referred to as the ‘African Real Madrid.’
What initially seemed like speculation has now turned into reality, as Al Ahly's official TV channel confirmed Gradišar’s arrival with a published photo of him signing the contract. According to local reports, his previous club, Hungarian side Fehérvár, will receive $1.1 million from the transfer.
The 22-year-old has secured a four-and-a-half-year contract, with an initial salary of $700,000 per season, which will increase by $100,000 annually. This marks a historic milestone, as Gradišar becomes the first Slovenian player to ever compete in the Egyptian Premier League.
"This is a dream come true. I am proud to join a club with such a rich history and a passionate fan base. I can't wait to get started and contribute to the team's success," Gradišar said after finalizing the deal.
Al Ahly, known for their record African Champions League titles and massive fan following, will provide Gradišar with the opportunity to showcase his talent on a new stage and play in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
