Despite Real Madrid's struggles, Carlo Ancelotti confidently claimed the team will reach the Champions League final, addressing criticism and challenges in their campaign.
Carlo Ancelotti, known for his measured responses, surprised many with a bold statement about Real Madrid's Champions League campaign. Despite a difficult season, the coach assured fans of the club's bright future.
This season, Real Madrid has struggled to find consistency. In La Liga, they trail the leaders, while their Champions League position is precarious, raising fears of an early elimination from the competition. The team currently sits 24th out of 32 teams, needing victories in their remaining three matches against Atalanta, Salzburg, and Brest to avoid an early exit.
Ancelotti, however, remains optimistic. Speaking to El Larguero, he declared: "You can say whatever you want about Real, but the most important thing is this: Real Madrid will play in the Champions League final in May! Right now, we are struggling with injuries, but that’s nobody’s fault."
Real Madrid has accumulated six points in the group stage so far, with two wins and three losses after five games. These results are uncharacteristic for the reigning Spanish and European champions, who are accustomed to dominating both domestic and international competitions.
Their latest setback came midweek with a 0-2 loss to Liverpool in the Champions League. Ancelotti faces even more challenges in their upcoming La Liga match against Getafe, with six key players sidelined due to injuries: David Alaba, Eduardo Camavinga, Dani Carvajal, Éder Militão, Rodrygo, Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Vinícius Júnior.
As Real Madrid navigates a challenging season, Ancelotti’s bold claim serves as both a rallying cry and a reminder of the club’s storied resilience. Only time will tell if his confidence translates to success on the pitch.
