Gabonese striker Orphe Mbina has found his form at Maribor, scoring four goals and earning a call-up to the Gabon national team alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Orphe Mbina, a summer signing for Maribor, is currently in excellent form, emerging as a key player capable of filling the void left by Jasir Asani and Nardin Jakupović. The Gabonese striker has netted four goals and added an assist in eight appearances in the Slovenian Prva Liga, adapting well to his new environment.
In a recent interview with the club’s website, Mbina shared his satisfaction with his progress: “I’ve been here for over two months now and I feel great. It took some time to adjust to life in the city and the club, especially since this is my first time leaving France. But everything is going as planned."
While he is still adjusting to life in Slovenia, Mbina is aided by teammates Jan Repas and Ažbe Jug, who speak French and have helped him settle in the locker room. Maribor’s upcoming match is a high-stakes derby against Celje, the defending champions, and Mbina is focused on delivering a strong performance after the team’s earlier loss to Celje this season.
Mbina's strong form has also earned him a return to the Gabon national team, where he plays alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Despite this international recognition, Mbina remains focused on the upcoming clash with Celje, eager to help Maribor secure a crucial win.
