Ramon Mierez is leaving Osijek for the United Arab Emirates. Despite long-standing rumors of a transfer to Dinamo, Mierez will not be continuing his career at Maksimir.
Germanijak reports that Osijek has sold their top scorer from the last HNL season to the UAE. Details of the transfer, including the name of the club and the transfer fee, remain undisclosed. It is also unclear whether Mierez will have a chance to bid farewell to his fans during Thursday's match against Zira or if he will leave immediately for his new club.
Entering the final year of his contract, this transfer was likely Osijek's last chance to profit from Mierez, as he could leave for free next year.
The 27-year-old Argentine arrived at Osijek from Spanish club Alaves four years ago for €2.5 million. He played 152 matches and scored 63 goals for Osijek. At the start of this season, he scored a hat-trick in a 5-1 victory against Estonian club Levadia at Opus Arena.
In 2021, Osijek rejected an €8 million offer from China for Mierez. Now, they have reportedly sold him for significantly less, around €3 million.
