Villarreal targets French defender Oumar Solet, who is available on a free transfer after leaving RB Salzburg, to strengthen their defense.
The summer transfer window may be closed, but clubs are still active in pursuing free agents. Among them, Oumar Solet, who recently finished his contract with RB Salzburg, is one of the most interesting players on the market.
Villarreal had already monitored the French defender over the summer, and now the situation is even more favorable for the club as they attempt to bring him in to strengthen their defense. At 24 years old, Solet is considered a promising defender with plenty of room for development.
He has been playing in Austria since Red Bull Salzburg signed him from Lyon during the 2020/21 season for €4.5 million. Last season, Solet not only impressed with his defensive performances but also contributed two goals and an assist.
However, the competition for his signature could be fierce, with several clubs likely to join the race to secure his services. A return to France is a strong possibility, while his skill set also makes him a good fit for clubs in the Premier League.
