Oxford United are reportedly in the race to sign Ajax midfielder Benjamin Tahirović, with Serie A clubs Torino and Udinese also showing interest, according to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf.
The 21-year-old Bosnian international has struggled to cement a regular place in the Ajax squad since his €7.5 million move from Roma in 2023, featuring in 39 matches and contributing with two goals and five assists.
Despite his initial promise, Tahirović's progress has been hampered by injuries, with the midfielder managing only 125 minutes of playing time this season. Ajax have now placed him at the top of their departure list for the January transfer window, and a move appears imminent.
Championship side Oxford United have emerged as serious contenders for Tahirović’s signature. The English club, currently enjoying a surge in form with five wins in their last six league matches, see the Bosnian as a potential key addition to bolster their midfield as they push further up the table.
While Oxford are eager to strike a deal, Serie A outfits Torino and Udinese are closely monitoring Tahirović's situation. Both clubs are looking to add midfield reinforcements, and the player's versatility makes him an attractive prospect for Italian football.
