RB Leipzig and Puma unveil a unique velvet jersey for Christmas, limited to 2009 pieces. The team will wear a version of it this Saturday against Wolfsburg.
RB Leipzig, in collaboration with Puma, has revealed a truly unique and festive jersey made of velvet to celebrate Christmas. While the limited-edition jersey is available for purchase, the team will wear a standard fabric version during their home game this Saturday against Wolfsburg.
The sale of jerseys continues to be a major source of income for football clubs, prompting them to release new designs annually to appeal not only to their own fans but also to a global audience. This year, RB Leipzig has decided to push the boundaries with a special Christmas jersey crafted from velvet, a material rarely seen in sportswear.
"It is a strictly limited edition of 2009 pieces," the club announced, referencing the year of their foundation, which makes them one of the youngest professional clubs in Germany. The special-edition jersey is set to be a collector's item for fans.
Additionally, the German club confirmed that “the players will wear an authentic version of this special jersey during the home match against VfL Wolfsburg” this Saturday, although the match-worn kits will be made of regular fabric instead of velvet.
