Paris Saint-Germain had reached an agreement with Parma for Zion Suzuki, but the transfer collapsed at the final stage after complications involving the Japanese goalkeeper's representatives.

Zion Suzuki appeared to be heading for one of the biggest moves of his career. Paris Saint-Germain had reached an agreement with Parma for the Japanese international, but the transfer has now dramatically collapsed.
According to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, PSG decided to walk away from the deal at the final stage following additional demands from the 23-year-old goalkeeper's representatives.
The situation had progressed so far that Suzuki was preparing to travel to France.
PSG subsequently cancelled his flight to Paris and the scheduled medical examination, bringing negotiations to an abrupt end.
PSG and Parma had already reached an agreement
The collapse is particularly surprising because the most difficult part of the negotiations appeared to have already been completed.
Parma had accepted PSG's proposal, leaving only the final details between the French champions and Suzuki's camp to be resolved.
Instead, new demands reportedly emerged during the closing stages of negotiations. PSG were unwilling to accept them and decided to withdraw rather than continue discussions.
For Suzuki, it means a dream opportunity to join the reigning Champions League winners has disappeared, at least for now.
His summer transfer story might not be over, though.
Premier League clubs monitoring Suzuki
The Japanese goalkeeper has attracted interest from several major European clubs following his performances in Italy.
Bayern Munich and Juventus have previously been linked with Suzuki, while Aston Villa and other Premier League clubs are reportedly monitoring his situation this summer.
At only 23, Suzuki already has considerable experience across three different European leagues.
Born in New York, he began his senior career with Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan before moving to Europe in 2023 with Belgian side Sint-Truiden.
Parma recognised his potential and signed him a year later for slightly more than €8 million.
His performances in Italy have since established him as one of the most interesting young goalkeepers on the European market.
PSG still searching for goalkeeper solution
PSG's interest in Suzuki comes amid continued uncertainty over the goalkeeping position in Paris.
Coach Luis Enrique previously moved away from Gianluigi Donnarumma and placed his faith in Lucas Chevalier.
That decision did not deliver the expected results, with the Spanish coach eventually preferring Matvey Safonov during the latter stages of the season.
PSG therefore entered the summer looking at possible alternatives, and Suzuki appeared to have emerged as their chosen solution.
That move is now off, leaving PSG searching again and Suzuki waiting to see whether another major European club makes its move before the transfer window closes.
