However, he is currently unable to travel to France due to a legal issue in his homeland.

Paris Saint-Germain will have to wait for their new signing from Russia. Safonov left Krasnodar but cannot yet travel to France. The problem lies in an ongoing legal dispute with his former partner over alimony (€600,000) and custody of their daughter, which has been dragging on for some time.

The situation has been confirmed by the goalkeeper's lawyer. While Safonov can technically sign a contract with PSG, he cannot (yet) leave Russia.

It is expected that the issue will be resolved and that the 25-year-old Russian international will eventually be able to travel to Paris, though it is unclear when or how this will be achieved. Safonov has previously only played for Krasnodar, where he made nearly 200 appearances and served as captain.

PSG was in the market for a new goalkeeper following the departure of veteran Keylor Navas and is prepared to pay around €20 million for Safonov.
