Kylian Mbappe is set to win €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses after PSG missed their appeal deadline in a legal dispute over his summer transfer to Real Madrid.

Kylian Mbappe is set to add €55 million to his bank account following a legal dispute with Paris Saint-Germain, a saga centered around unpaid wages and bonuses. According to the latest reports, the French superstar is close to winning the case, with PSG failing to lodge their appeal within the required timeframe.

The dispute stems from Mbappe’s free transfer to Real Madrid during the summer transfer window. PSG, for whom Mbappe scored 256 goals and provided 108 assists in 308 appearances, received no financial compensation from the move. The Parisian club claims there was an oral agreement with Mbappe that he would not leave without ensuring the club benefited financially. However, Mbappe’s legal team denies the existence of any such agreement.

What is PSG’s €55 million liability?

The case revolves around unpaid wages and bonuses. Reports indicate that Mbappe did not receive his April, May, and June salaries or part of an €80 million signing bonus promised when he extended his contract. The €55 million claim was formally submitted to the French Football Federation (FFF), the Professional Football League (LFP), and UEFA months ago.

Last month, Mbappe presented evidence to the LFP Commission, which ruled in his favor. The FFF and LFP instructed PSG to pay the outstanding amount, but the club failed to meet the stipulated deadline. PSG had 10 days to appeal the ruling but filed their appeal on the 11th day, resulting in the automatic rejection of their case.

What’s next?

With the appeal now dismissed, PSG is left with no further recourse to contest the decision. The club must now pay the €55 million Mbappe is owed, adding another chapter to the increasingly strained relationship between the two parties.

This legal win for Mbappe further underscores the acrimonious fallout of his departure to Real Madrid, a transfer that not only deprived PSG of a financial windfall but also left lingering legal and financial complications.
