The famous Opta supercomputer delivered harsh news for PSV Eindhoven, assigning them a 0.00 percent chance to advance in the Champions League after their heavy first-leg loss to Arsenal.
PSV suffered their worst-ever European defeat, losing 4-0 in the Netherlands. The result effectively ends their hopes ahead of tonight’s second leg at the Emirates Stadium, which is expected to be merely a formality.
The statistical platform from Opta suggests PSV have virtually no hope of overcoming this deficit, predicting Arsenal’s easy passage into the quarter-finals.
However, PSV’s fans received unexpected recognition from their club, which decided to reimburse ticket costs totaling around €200,000. In an email to supporters attending the Emirates, PSV wrote: "Due to the poor result in the first leg, we appreciate your support and attendance even more."
This gesture is PSV’s way of thanking fans for loyalty despite the team's record European defeat, the worst in PSV’s European history.
