Palmeiras is evaluating a move for Jorginho but remains focused on securing Andreas Pereira from Fulham, with negotiations expected to extend into February.
Palmeiras continues to dominate the transfer market, having already spent over €28 million on signings such as Facundo Torres and Paulinho. Additionally, they are on the verge of selling Vitor Reis for €52 million.
The club has also made significant squad changes, terminating Dudu's contract (now with Cruzeiro), letting go of Lázaro (on loan at Almeria), and trading Gabriel Menino and Patrick to Atlético Mineiro as part of the deal for Paulinho.
However, Palmeiras' primary target remains Andreas Pereira, for whom they have submitted a €24 million offer to Fulham. The English club has yet to respond, and the negotiations may drag on until the close of the European transfer window in early February.
While optimistic about securing Andreas, Palmeiras is exploring alternatives, including Paraguayan midfielder Villasanti. On Thursday night, Jorginho, the Italian international and former Chelsea star, was reportedly offered to Palmeiras.
According to ESPN reporter Vinícius Nicoletti, the 33-year-old Arsenal midfielder is open to leaving the London club due to limited playing time under Mikel Arteta. With his contract expiring in June, Jorginho could either sign a pre-contract or potentially join Palmeiras this January.
Globo Esporte reports that Palmeiras' management is impressed with Jorginho’s profile but remains cautious. Andreas Pereira is still their priority, and Palmeiras will only consider opening negotiations with Jorginho if their bid for Andreas falls through.
At 33, Jorginho has spent his entire career in Europe and became a naturalized Italian to represent their national team. Since joining Arsenal in 2022, his performances have been inconsistent, and he currently finds himself out of Arteta's starting lineup.
