Keylor Navas will leave Paris Saint-Germain, prompting the club to search for a new goalkeeper.
It appears they have found their solution in Russia, with a player born on the same day as Gigio Donnarumma.
Paris Saint-Germain has identified a very interesting target for the summer transfer window in Russia: 24-year-old goalkeeper Matvey Safonov. French journalists report that the deal is nearing its final stages, with the Parisians ready to pay around 20 million euros for the 24-year-old captain of Krasnodar. This would be a record for the Russian Premier League club.
To date, Krasnodar's biggest sale was striker Fedor Smolov to Lokomotiv Moscow for 9 million euros in 2018.
Interestingly, Safonov was born on the same day and in the same year as Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is the main goalkeeper for Paris Saint-Germain. Both share a birthday on February 25. The Italian has been with PSG since 2021, having previously played for AC Milan.
PSG's need for a new goalkeeper arises mainly because veteran Keylor Navas has decided to leave the French capital this year.
