Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has backed a potential Arsenal move for Marcus Rashford amid uncertainty surrounding his Barcelona future.
Marcus Rashford wanted his future sorted quickly after rebuilding his reputation at Barcelona. Now, things suddenly look much more complicated.
The English forward spent last season on loan at Barcelona and played an important role in another successful campaign, helping the Catalan club defend the La Liga title while also making a deep run in the Champions League. After arriving with doubts surrounding him following his difficult exit from Manchester United and an inconsistent spell at Aston Villa, Rashford responded impressively with 14 goals and 10 assists.
For months, a permanent stay at Camp Nou looked likely.
Barcelona reportedly holds an option to sign Rashford permanently from United for around £26 million, and until recently, there appeared little doubt they would activate it. The situation changed after the Spanish champions invested heavily elsewhere, spending around £70 million on England winger Anthony Gordon.
Barcelona remains interested in keeping Rashford, but the financial picture has become more complicated, and uncertainty has reopened the market.
According to reports from England, Rashford's camp remains relaxed because interest already exists elsewhere. Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and even Real Madrid are all being linked with the forward if Barcelona decides against completing the deal.
One former Manchester United icon believes Arsenal should move immediately.
Paul Scholes openly backed the idea of Rashford joining the Premier League champions.
" Barcelona have a deal in place to buy him, but I think they're trying to get him cheaper," Scholes said on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast.
When asked specifically about Arsenal's interest, the former midfielder left little room for doubt.
" That would be a great move, a great move for both parties. I think Arsenal would be a great move for him and the club."
Rashford still prefers Barcelona.
, but if the door starts closing in Spain, new options are already opening elsewhere.
