Manchester City have confirmed the €75 million signing of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth, with the explosive winger committing to the club until the summer of 2031.
Manchester City have officially confirmed the signing of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth, completing a deal worth up to €75 million.
The 26-year-old winger has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2031. The move represents a major statement from City as Pep Guardiola continues to refresh his attacking options.
Semenyo arrives after three outstanding seasons at Bournemouth, where he established himself as one of the Premier League’s most dynamic wide players. In total, he made 110 appearances for the Cherries, significantly improving his goal and assist output over the past two campaigns.
‘A world-class environment’
Speaking after completing the move, Semenyo underlined the scale of the challenge ahead.
“I’m extremely proud to become part of Manchester City. Over the past decade, they’ve set the highest standards under Pep Guardiola. This is a world-class club and the perfect environment for my development,” he said.
City’s sporting director Hugo Viana also welcomed the signing, highlighting both immediate impact and long-term potential.
“Antoine has pace, power, quality with both feet and, above all, huge room for improvement. He made it very clear that he wanted to join City, and players with that mindset fit perfectly into our project,” Viana explained.
Immediate availability for Guardiola
Semenyo is eligible to play straight away and is already available for selection ahead of City’s League Cup semi-final against Newcastle United, offering Guardiola additional tactical flexibility across the front line.
From London to the Etihad
Born in London to Ghanaian parents, Semenyo began his professional journey at Bristol City. Early loan spells at Bath City, Newport County and Sunderland proved crucial to his development, particularly his time at Newport, where he transitioned from a central striker into a modern wide forward.
His career-defining move came in January 2023, when Bournemouth secured his signature. Under head coach Andoni Iraola, Semenyo flourished. He scored eight league goals in the 2023/24 season, followed by 11 the year after. Before his move to City, he had already netted 10 Premier League goals this season, including strikes against Liverpool and Tottenham.
At international level, Semenyo has become a regular for Ghana national football team, earning 32 caps and featuring at the 2022 World Cup.
Bournemouth’s remarkable transfer profits
The deal represents Bournemouth’s most expensive sale in history. The guaranteed fee stands at €72 million, with performance-related bonuses potentially pushing the total to €75 million.
Semenyo is the fifth major departure for Bournemouth in the 2025/26 season, a campaign in which the club have generated a staggering €310 million from player sales. Among those exits were Illia Zabarnyi to Paris Saint-Germain (€63m), Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid (€62.5m), Miloš Kerkez to Liverpool (€46.9m), and Dango Ouattara to Brentford (€42.8m).
For Manchester City, Semenyo now faces the biggest challenge of his career — proving he can translate his Premier League explosiveness into success at the sport’s highest level.
