Manchester City star Phil Foden has reignited engagement rumours after being spotted ring shopping with his childhood sweetheart Rebecca Cooke in Cheshire.
Phil Foden has once again fuelled speculation about his upcoming wedding after being spotted ring shopping with his long-term girlfriend Rebecca Cooke in the affluent Cheshire town of Wilmslow. The couple, who met as teenagers, appeared to confirm engagement rumours that first began earlier this year.
Cooke was seen wearing a sparkling diamond ring as the pair entered the jewellers, following reports that the Manchester City midfielder had proposed during a romantic New Year’s trip to Paris. Although the couple have not publicly announced their engagement, those close to them believe it’s only a matter of time before they share the news officially.
A source told SunSport: “The pair of them have been together since they were young and their family and friends have been expecting them to get engaged for a while. The time seemed right for Phil to pop the question. He took her away to Paris for New Year’s Eve, and when they came back, Rebecca had a massive diamond ring on her engagement finger.”
Foden and Cooke, who already share three children, are said to be planning a star-studded wedding that could see footballers, celebrities, and fellow WAGs in attendance. The source added that Rebecca, known for her love of hosting lavish events, would make it a celebration to remember.
The engagement news comes amid a busy period for Foden off the pitch. The 24-year-old England international recently sold his £3.25 million Cheshire mansion after noise complaints from neighbours forced him and Cooke to move to a quieter countryside home. Despite the off-field distractions, Foden has rediscovered his form this season, saying last month that he had “got his smile back” after a difficult spell.
England manager Thomas Tuchel has also promised Foden a more central role in the national team after his recent omission from the Three Lions squad, though competition for places remains fierce ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
For now, though, it seems love — not football — is taking centre stage in Foden’s life as fans await official confirmation of Manchester’s next football wedding.
