Gerard Piqué slams the Andorran government over FC Andorra’s stadium issues, demanding urgent action and warning that he may reconsider his role in the club.

Gerard Piqué has issued a strong ultimatum to the Government of Andorra, expressing his frustration over the poor state of the National Stadium’s pitch following a rugby match. Speaking after FC Andorra’s 0-0 draw against Ourense, the club’s owner and president demanded action, criticizing what he sees as unfair treatment compared to rugby’s political influence in the country.

"If the Andorran government doesn’t give us an immediate solution, we will have to make decisions. We cannot continue like this. We cannot accept this treatment," Piqué declared on the day of his 38th birthday.

Piqué highlighted the club’s rise from Primera Catalana to Spain’s Segunda División, with attendance growing from 20 to 2,000 fans before their recent relegation. He emphasized that FC Andorra is one of the country’s most important sporting projects, alongside basketball.

The main issue lies in the multi-sport use of the National Stadium, which FC Andorra shares with rugby teams. Piqué described playing conditions as "a disgrace", accusing the government of favoring rugby and failing to support his €4 million investment in the club’s future.

With the current stadium agreement set to expire this summer, Andorra’s government plans to move FC Andorra to a new FAF-built facility in Encamp. However, Piqué flatly rejected the idea, insisting that the club deserves a better solution.

"I respect Encamp, I love Encamp, but we have invested nearly four million euros here. We have sat down with the government many times and understand that rugby has strong political influence, but we cannot continue like this."

Piqué ended his speech with a clear message:

"The time to say enough is today. Either we sit down and find a solution, or we will have to make our own decisions."
