Manchester United announces a 5% ticket price increase, frustrating fans amid poor team performances and plans for an expensive €2 billion stadium rebuild.
Despite Manchester United’s continuing on-field struggles, club executives have delivered more disappointing news to supporters, announcing a 5% increase in ticket prices for the upcoming season.
Though the price hike might appear modest, the timing couldn't be worse for fans who have grown increasingly frustrated by consistently poor results and performances from the club.
In defending the decision, Manchester United’s CEO, Omar Berrada, emphasized the club’s appreciation of fan loyalty, particularly highlighting season-ticket holders:
"We value our supporters’ loyalty and especially appreciate our season-ticket holders. We fully understand how crucial fan support is, which we've carefully considered in setting these prices. After eleven years without increases, we've applied 5% rises in each of the last two seasons, and will continue to do so next season due to rising operational costs," said Berrada.
The news follows a recent club announcement regarding ambitious plans to build a brand-new stadium, with costs expected to reach approximately €2 billion.
