Pepe received special honors as he retired from international football.

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) paid tribute to defender Pepe on Thursday before their Nations League match against Croatia, celebrating his 141 appearances in the Portugal national team shirt, following his announcement of retirement in August.

Pepe concluded his international career, during which he won the European Championship in 2016, after Euro 2024 in Germany. Only Joao Moutinho (146) and Cristiano Ronaldo (212) have more appearances for Portugal.

Pepe also enjoyed a stellar club career, playing for Maritimo, Porto, Real Madrid, and Beşiktaş.
