The Round of 32 clash between Portugal and Croatia has become one of the hottest tickets of the 2026 World Cup, with resale prices reaching astonishing levels.
According to reports from Canada, some tickets for Thursday's match in Toronto are being offered on secondary marketplaces for as much as €18,500.
Even the least expensive resale tickets are commanding huge prices, with entry-level seats starting at around $2,600 despite FIFA originally pricing tickets between $335 and $875.
Huge local demand fuels the surge
The extraordinary demand is hardly surprising.
The Greater Toronto Area is home to an estimated 140,000 people of Portuguese heritage and around 35,000 people of Croatian descent, creating enormous interest in what many consider the standout fixture of the knockout round.
Supporters from both communities have rushed to secure seats, pushing resale prices to unprecedented levels.
A possible farewell for two legends
The emotional significance of the match has also played a major role.
There is a strong possibility that this could be the final World Cup appearance for two of football's greatest players, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modrić.
Both captains are approaching the end of their extraordinary international careers, and defeat would almost certainly mark their last match on football's biggest stage.
With a place in the Round of 16 at stake and two living legends sharing the pitch, fans appear willing to pay almost any price to witness what could become a historic night in Toronto.
