The 2025–26 Premier League finale promises drama, with the title race, European spots, and relegation battle all still undecided as the season heads toward a thrilling conclusion.

With only a handful of games to go in the 2025-26 Premier League season, there is still nearly everything up for grabs. The title, European places and the final relegation spot are all yet to be decided. Football fans are in for lashings of intrigue and drama as the campaign reaches its climax.

The title

The greatest question, of course, is who will land the title. Manchester City have been the dominant force of the last decade. Another crown this year would be a seventh in just ten years for Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering side. Yet then there is Arsenal, battling for what would be a first title in over 20 years – almost unimaginable for a club of the Gunners’ stature. It wasn’t long ago that a fourth Premier League title seemed a given as Mikel Arteta’s men held a significant lead at the top of the table. Yet a poor run of results, culminating in a significant defeat at the Etihad Stadium to rivals Manchester City, has changed the complexion completely. City are on the charge, while the Londoners appear to be wilting under the significant weight of history.

Perhaps surprisingly, considering the narrative in recent weeks, all is far from lost for the Gunners. Indeed, many of the platforms listed on MansionBet place Arsenal as slight favourites for their first Premier League title since 2004. Why?

Well, first of all, the fixture schedule has been slighter kinder to the men from North London, something that Guardiola and co. are far from happy about. City, with an FA Cup final to prepare for, face a run of four games in just 11 days. The Wembley showpiece against Chelsea is set for 16 May, yet Guardiola’s side face crucial league games either side – hosting Crystal Palace on 13 May and visiting Bournemouth on 19 May. City also face tough games against European chasing Everton and Aston Villa in their packed May schedule. Arsenal don’t have it all their own way – their Champions League run is also placing strain on the squad, but after the second leg of their semi-final, face, on paper at least, rather less arduous games against West Ham, Burnley and Palace. And a victory in their next game would place the Gunners six points clear, albeit City having two games in hand. But at this stage of the season, points on the board is everything. And with the table so tight, there is no margin for error. Hence the Arsenal as favourites tag. It’s all to play for.

European places up for grabs

England has secured a fifth Champions League place for the second season running. As a result, the end-of-season top five in the Premier league will all qualify for Europe’s elite club competition. With fifth place Aston Villa currently eight points ahead of Brighton, those spots seem to be relatively secure. Arsenal, City, Manchester United and Liverpool are the other four teams who can rest pretty easy in the knowledge that the Champions League theme will be belting out at their stadiums next season.

There are permutations which could see England secure a sixth spot in the Champions League next season. With Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest in contention in the Europa League, and Crystal Palace in the running for the Europa Conference League, Europa League spots could drop down as far as seventh, with the Conference League spot going down as far as eighth depending on who wins the FA Cup. It’s all pretty complicated, but the result is that interest in league position for European spots goes considerably further down the league table than it would do in almost any other year. Just nine points currently separate Bournemouth in seventh and Leeds in fifteenth. Just to think Leeds were in the thick of a relegation battle up until a game or two ago. Maybe they still are?

The fight against the dreaded drop

Which brings us to events at the bottom of the table. Wolves and Burnley are already relegated, meaning there is just one more drop-zone place to be avoided. Currently Europa League holders Tottenham occupy that spot – almost unthinkable to many, let alone the club’s legion of suffering fans. But a fall into the second tier for the first time in nearly half a century is very much on the cards for Spurs. The Londoners currently sit two points behind city rivals West Ham, with Forest a further three points ahead. Leeds are one point ahead of Forest, but to all intents and purposes, it looks like a straight fight between Spurs and the Hammers.

Tottenham and West Ham face tricky run-ins, but with that two-point cushion, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men hold the advantage. Both teams will face Leeds, who potentially still could get sucked back into contention, while Forest have the distraction of the Europa League to contend with. Perhaps all is not lost yet for Spurs in particular. It’s important to remember that this was a club that reached the Champions League final just seven years ago. Spurs in the Championship is not a sight many thought they would see. That shiny stadium will certainly look a little out of place in the second tier, but such is the game of football. But it’s not over yet.

All in all, the end to the 2025-26 Premier League season couldn’t be much more exciting!
