Antony’s standout loan spell at Real Betis has increased his value to €40 million, creating a major transfer dilemma ahead of the summer window for the cash-strapped Spanish club.
Real Betis are facing a major transfer dilemma as Antony continues to shine during his loan spell from Manchester United. The Brazilian winger has delivered eight goals and five assists in just 21 appearances, playing a crucial role in helping Betis reach the Conference League final and remain in the hunt for a Champions League spot in La Liga.
However, Antony’s stellar form is now working against Betis. His rising market value—reportedly at €40 million—makes a permanent transfer increasingly unlikely for the financially limited Andalusian side.
Club president Angel Haro confirmed the situation in an interview with COPE: “Keeping Antony in our ranks will be a very, very difficult task. We will be in contact with Manchester United about this and hopefully we will be able to agree on an extension of the loan for next season.”
But Manchester United are expected to prioritise a sale in the upcoming transfer window as they look to fund a broader squad overhaul. That leaves the door open for other clubs to swoop in, with Atletico Madrid reportedly keeping close tabs on Antony and ready to meet United’s asking price.
