Aurélien Tchouaméni has reportedly agreed a contract extension with Real Madrid until 2031 after interest from Manchester United and talks with José Mourinho.

Real Madrid has moved swiftly to secure the long-term future of Aurélien Tchouaméni, with the French midfielder reportedly agreeing a new contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until 2031.
According to ESPN, the agreement comes after weeks of speculation linking the 26-year-old with a possible move away from Madrid, with Manchester United among the clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.
Tchouaméni joined Real Madrid from Monaco in the summer of 2022 in a deal worth around €85 million. His previous contract was due to expire in 2028, but the Spanish giants have now decided to reward one of their most important midfielders with a new long-term agreement.
Despite establishing himself as a regular starter under Carlo Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso, and Álvaro Arbeloa, reports had suggested Madrid could consider a sale this summer if a significant offer arrived.
Instead, the club has chosen the opposite approach.
According to the report, new head coach José Mourinho played a decisive role in convincing Tchouaméni to commit his future to the club. During discussions with the midfielder, Mourinho reportedly made it clear that the France international would be one of the central figures in his new project.
That conversation is believed to have removed any remaining doubts and paved the way for the contract extension.
Mourinho is now focusing on further strengthening his squad ahead of the new season. Reports in Spain suggest the Portuguese coach wants additional signings, although Real Madrid's hierarchy is expected to approve new arrivals only after more players leave the club.
Several departures have already taken place this summer, including Dani Ceballos, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba and Fran García, but Mourinho is still eager to add more quality to his squad.
For now, Tchouaméni's attention remains on international duty. The midfielder is preparing for France's World Cup quarter-final against Norway, knowing that his club future has now been settled.
With a new contract reportedly agreed until 2031, Tchouaméni is expected to become one of the cornerstones of Mourinho's Real Madrid project for years to come.
