Real Madrid has purchased Joselu's contract from Espanyol, facilitating his move to Al Gharafa in Saudi Arabia.
Former Real Madrid striker Joselu will continue his career at Saudi club Al Gharafa, with the Los Blancos stepping in to help finalize the transfer.
Joselu spent last season on loan at Real Madrid from Espanyol. Real Madrid intended to buy his contract for just €1.5 million, but Joselu informed them he did not plan to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
Although he accepted the move to Saudi Arabia, Espanyol created issues and refused to release Joselu to Al Gharafa without compensation. Ultimately, Real decided to fulfill Joselu's wish by purchasing him from Espanyol for €1.5 million and then allowing him to transfer to Al Gharafa.
At 34 years old, Joselu is nearing the end of his career, which explains why he chose to move to Saudi Arabia, where he will earn €8.5 million annually.
Last season, Joselu scored 10 goals for Real in La Liga and 5 in the Champions League, where he particularly impressed in the semifinal against Bayern, scoring twice in the 88th and 90th minutes to secure a dramatic comeback and propel Real Madrid to the final and eventually the European title.
