Real Madrid candidate promises Haaland transfer and gets immediate response

The presidential campaign at Real Madrid is becoming increasingly dramatic.

Just days before members vote for the club’s next president, candidate Enrique Riquelme created headlines across Spain after publicly promising to bring Erling Haaland to the Santiago Bernabéu.

Appearing on television program El Hormiguero, Riquelme made his biggest campaign promise yet.

"If I become president, Haaland will play for Real Madrid."

The businessman from Alicante even appeared wearing a shirt with Haaland’s name and presented what he claimed were documents connected to the potential transfer.

The reaction was immediate.

Reports spread rapidly across Spanish media before representatives from Haaland’s camp stepped in.

According to statements shared by journalist Fabrizio Romano, both Haaland’s father Alfie Haaland and agent Rafaela Pimienta dismissed the claims.

"Very funny, but it's not true. We wish both candidates the best of luck in the Real Madrid presidential election."

Riquelme’s transfer ambitions do not stop with Haaland.

He again spoke openly about wanting to sign Rodri, identifying midfield as an area requiring immediate improvement.

"He's an exceptional footballer who plays in a position where Real Madrid needs reinforcement. We've spoken to his agent. If I'm president, I'll do everything I can to have him play for Real Madrid."

He also distanced himself from another topic dominating election discussions.

Unlike current president Florentino Pérez, Riquelme does not appear interested in appointing José Mourinho.

"He is a good coach, but he does not fit the project we want to build. We have our candidate and his name could be revealed as early as Friday."

With elections arriving next Sunday, the campaign increasingly resembles a battle of promises.

Pérez promises signings and mystery announcements. Riquelme promises Haaland.
