Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates his 40th birthday today, and Real Madrid, the club where he cemented his legendary status, was among the first to send its congratulations.
The Spanish giants took to social media to acknowledge the milestone, paying tribute to their former superstar.
"Dear Cristiano, Real Madrid sends you warm congratulations on your 40th birthday. All of us at Real are proud of you and what you represent in the history of our club. We wish you a happy day surrounded by your family and loved ones," the club wrote.
Ronaldo’s legacy at Real Madrid
Ronaldo joined Real Madrid in 2009 from Manchester United and spent nine unforgettable years in the Spanish capital. During his time at the Bernabéu, he became the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, winning multiple La Liga and Champions League titles.
He departed in 2018 for Juventus but remains an iconic figure in Madrid. Among his many achievements, he won four of his five Ballon d’Or titles while playing for Los Blancos, further solidifying his place in football history.
Despite moving on, the bond between Ronaldo and Real Madrid remains strong, as evidenced by their heartfelt message on his milestone birthday.
