While there is a slight chance he could return for the final few La Liga matches, his season is effectively over.
The 28-year-old midfielder has been a squad player for Carlo Ancelotti this season but has still managed to make 30 appearances in all competitions. He has played an important role in recent weeks, stepping up when injuries depleted Madrid’s midfield.
With Eduardo Camavinga missing games and Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni covering gaps in defense, Ceballos became a useful asset in Ancelotti’s rotation.
Since joining Real Madrid in 2017, Ceballos has won multiple trophies, making 178 appearances, scoring seven goals, and providing 16 assists.
His injury is another setback for Madrid as they continue to battle for the La Liga, Champions League, and Copa del Rey titles.
