Real Madrid has announced a €150 million bid for Julian Alvarez, but Atletico Madrid has no intention of selling one of its most important players.

Real Madrid has officially confirmed what had been one of football's biggest transfer rumours.
The Spanish giants announced that they submitted a €150 million offer to city rivals Atletico Madrid in an attempt to sign Argentine striker Julian Alvarez.
The move comes only days after club president Florentino Perez hinted that Real Madrid was preparing a record-breaking transfer bid for a world-class player.
Real Madrid makes its move
In an official statement released after a board meeting, Real Madrid confirmed that Alvarez was the player they wanted to bring to the Santiago Bernabeu.
"Real Madrid C.F. can confirm that, following today's board meeting, it has made an offer of 150 million euros to Atletico de Madrid for the registration rights of the player Julian Alvarez."
The announcement immediately became one of the biggest stories of the summer transfer window.
For several weeks, speculation had linked Real Madrid with various stars, including Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, but Perez repeatedly denied those reports.
Atletico rejects the offer
Real Madrid's statement also included Atletico's response.
"After reviewing and evaluating the offer, Atletico de Madrid thanked the club for the offer, made in the spirit of good relations between the two clubs, and rejected it."
The reaction was hardly surprising.
Alvarez has become one of the most important players in Diego Simeone's squad and is widely viewed as the cornerstone of Atletico's long-term project.
Why Alvarez is untouchable
The 26-year-old striker remains one of the most sought-after forwards in world football.
His performances have reportedly attracted interest from several major European clubs, including Barcelona, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Atletico has consistently insisted that Alvarez is not for sale.
The Argentine's current contract runs until June 2030 and reportedly contains a staggering €500 million release clause.
That figure effectively gives Atletico complete control over his future.
Mourinho's rebuild continues
The transfer attempt arrives as Real Madrid prepares to begin a new era under Jose Mourinho, who is expected to be officially presented as head coach in the coming days.
The Portuguese manager has already been heavily involved in transfer planning and is working alongside Perez to strengthen several areas of the squad.
While Alvarez appears out of reach for now, the bid demonstrates the scale of Real Madrid's ambitions ahead of the new season.
Whether Atletico's stance softens in the coming weeks remains to be seen, but after rejecting €150 million, the message from the red-and-white side of Madrid appears crystal clear.
