Real Madrid reportedly considers a third attempt to appoint Massimiliano Allegri as Florentino Perez looks for an experienced successor once Carlo Ancelotti’s era ends.
Real Madrid could turn again to Massimiliano Allegri as president Florentino Perez studies options for the club’s next managerial era.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Spanish giants have revived their interest in the experienced Italian coach. This would represent the third attempt by the Madrid club to bring Allegri to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The first serious approach arrived in 2019 after Allegri completed a dominant spell with Juventus. During that period he won five consecutive Serie A titles and four Coppa Italia trophies, establishing himself among Europe’s most successful managers.
A second opportunity appeared in 2021. Reports from Italy claimed a deal stood close, including a three-year contract worth about €8.5 million net per season. The move collapsed after Allegri held final talks with Andrea Agnelli and decided to remain in Turin.
Now the situation has returned to the spotlight. With Carlo Ancelotti approaching the later stage of his tenure, Florentino Perez reportedly wants a proven and experienced coach capable of managing the pressure and expectations at Real Madrid.
At present, Allegri works at AC Milan, where his contract runs until June 2027. The club has improved significantly compared with last season and currently fights for a return to the Champions League.
Italian coaches have historically succeeded in Madrid. Fabio Capello delivered the La Liga title in 1996/97, finishing ahead of Barcelona. Carlo Ancelotti went even further, collecting 15 trophies across two spells and becoming the most successful manager in Real Madrid history.
Because of that track record, another appointment from the Italian coaching school would not surprise many observers if Real Madrid decides to open a new chapter on the bench.
