Manuel Neuer delivered a performance to remember as Bayern Munich defeated Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, ending the Spanish side’s unbeaten run.
The 40-year-old goalkeeper was the key figure on the night, producing a series of crucial saves to frustrate Vinícius Júnior, Kylian Mbappé, and Jude Bellingham.
Neuer recorded nine saves and controlled his area with authority, often leaving his line to stop danger before it fully developed.
His performance earned him the Man of the Match award from UEFA, while statistical platform Sofascore gave him a rating of 8.9, the highest on the pitch.
Even Real Madrid players acknowledged his impact, with Antonio Rüdiger admitting that Neuer made the difference.
After the match, the experienced goalkeeper reflected on the challenge.
"We missed a few chances, and Real also had some. Unfortunately, they scored a goal relatively late, but in the end we are happy because we won. But it was not an easy game."
"Real are strong, they have fast players who can play well, Bellingham, Mbappé, Vinícius... They are a threat all the time. I simply had to be at a high level."
The victory marked Bayern’s first win at the Bernabéu since 2001, adding extra weight to an already impressive night.
For Real Madrid, it was a frustrating evening, defined by missed chances and one outstanding opponent.
