Real Madrid wants to bring back Nico Paz from Como for around nine million euros, but squad competition raises serious questions about his role.
Nico Paz is moving closer to a major return, as Real Madrid prepare to activate their buy-back clause for the Argentine talent. The midfielder has been one of the standout players in Serie A this season with Como, where he has developed into a key figure under Cesc Fàbregas.
The financial logic is clear. Real Madrid can bring him back for around nine million euros, while his market value has already risen to around 65 million euros. His salary remains manageable, which makes the move even more attractive from the club’s perspective.
On the pitch, Paz has delivered consistent impact, recording 13 goals and eight assists this season and earning opportunities with the Argentina national team. He also carries strong football roots, as his father Pablo Paz played for Newell’s, Independiente, Tenerife and Real Valladolid.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the player is keen on returning to Madrid, which is expected given the stature of the club. The real issue is not the transfer itself, but the space available in the squad.
Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, Jude Bellingham and Arda Güler already hold key roles, while Rodrygo, Brahim Díaz and Franco Mastantuono are competing for minutes. This creates a crowded attacking structure where opportunities are limited.
Real Madrid now face a clear dilemma. The opportunity to bring back Paz is too good to ignore from a financial standpoint, but his development depends on regular playing time, which is far from guaranteed in the current setup. Meanwhile, Como continue their push for a Champions League place, with Paz expected to start against Genoa as the season reaches its decisive phase.
