Real Madrid's pursuit of Yan Diomande has stalled after a legal dispute between two agencies prompted FIFA to step in.

Real Madrid is expected to complete one of the biggest transfers of the summer, but an extraordinary legal dispute has brought the deal to a complete standstill.
The Spanish giants have already reached an agreement in principle for highly rated Yan Diomande, yet the 19-year-old RB Leipzig winger remains in Germany because two agencies are fighting over who is entitled to the commission from the blockbuster transfer.
The dispute has now escalated to the point where FIFA has been forced to intervene.
A battle over millions
According to reports, Maxidel Management, the agency that previously represented the Ivory Coast international, has launched legal action against Roc Nation Sports, the agency that currently manages the player.
Roc Nation Sports, co-owned by music superstar Jay-Z, represents several high-profile footballers, including Vinicius Junior and Endrick. Diomande even visited the agency's headquarters during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, further highlighting the close relationship between the player and his current representatives.
Maxidel Management argues that it remains entitled to receive commission from any transfer because it negotiated Diomande's move from Leganés to RB Leipzig last year. The agency claims its contractual rights remain valid until the player leaves the Bundesliga club.
Roc Nation disputes that position, creating a legal conflict that has delayed one of Europe's biggest potential transfers.
Real Madrid running out of patience
The situation has reportedly frustrated Real Madrid's hierarchy.
The club believed all major aspects of the transfer had already been agreed with the player's current representatives, only to find themselves caught in a dispute that has little to do with either the player or the buying club.
Adding to the complexity, Leipzig have made it clear they have no intention of becoming involved in the disagreement.
The German club are focused solely on receiving their asking price, which is reported to exceed €100 million. Unofficial reports suggest Leipzig are demanding around €122 million plus a further €10 million in performance-related bonuses.
Club officials have reportedly informed all parties that the agency dispute must be resolved before any transfer can move forward.
FIFA now holds the key
With both agencies refusing to back down, FIFA has stepped in to examine the contractual claims and determine which party is legally entitled to the commission.
Until a decision is reached, one of Real Madrid's priority signings remains on hold.
For Diomande, the situation has become an unusual obstacle in what could be the biggest move of his career. For Real Madrid, it is a reminder that even after agreeing with the player and negotiating with the selling club, modern football transfers can still be delayed by battles taking place far away from the pitch.
