Vinicius Junior, Real Madrid’s Brazilian winger, is reportedly exploring a significant off-pitch investment by purchasing Portuguese second-division club FC Alverca.
Rumors in Portugal suggest that the 24-year-old star is ready to offer 10 million euros to acquire FC Alverca, currently 8th in the league table. The club is based in Alverca do Ribatejo, near Lisbon, home to top-flight giants Benfica and Sporting.
Vinicius Junior, who still has many years left in his professional career, has shown interest in expanding his business ventures. Forbes estimated his wealth at 55 million euros in 2023, making him one of the highest-earning footballers globally. Notably, in 2021, he launched his own sports agency, which focuses on representing and managing football talent.
FC Alverca, founded in 1939, had a brief but notable stint in Portugal’s top division, spending five seasons in the Primeira Liga before financial troubles led to bankruptcy in 2005. The club reformed and gradually climbed the lower league ranks, finally returning to the second division this season after a 20-year absence. Alverca has surprised many with its strong performance, sitting comfortably in 8th place with a 10-point cushion above the relegation zone.

Should the deal go through, Vinicius would follow in the footsteps of stars like Kylian Mbappe and N’Golo Kante, who have also invested in football clubs.
