Real Madrid targets Atalanta’s Ederson as a potential "new Casemiro," with the Brazilian midfielder valued at over €60 million and drawing interest from top European clubs.
Real Madrid has identified Ederson, the 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder from Atalanta, as a potential successor to Casemiro, according to reports from Italian media.
Ederson impressed Real’s scouts during the club's encounters with Atalanta in the European Super Cup and the Champions League this season. Despite Atalanta losing both matches, Ederson’s defensive abilities stood out. Real Madrid sees him as the ideal replacement for Casemiro, who excelled in the holding midfield role alongside Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos.
Previous attempts to replace Casemiro, including signing Camavinga and Tchouaméni, have fallen short as neither has fully adapted to the defensive demands of the position. Ederson, however, has been praised for his strong defensive contributions, making him a standout candidate.
Ederson joined Atalanta in the summer of 2022 from Salernitana in a €23 million transfer and is under contract until June 2027. His performances have not only attracted Real Madrid but also interest from Manchester United, PSG, Manchester City, and Juventus.
Italian media reports suggest that Atalanta would only consider selling Ederson for offers exceeding €60 million, making him a costly but potentially vital target for Madrid as they rebuild their midfield.
