Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni admitted he hears criticism from supporters, but remains determined to help his team win against city rivals Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Real Madrid enter tonight’s second leg against Atletico holding a slim 2-1 advantage. Despite recent whistles from the Santiago Bernabeu stands directed at him, Tchouameni is solely concentrated on the decisive Champions League clash.
"Of course you hear the whistles on the pitch," Tchouameni acknowledged at the pre-match press conference. "But every game, the most important thing for me is to stay focused and do my job."
Real Madrid won the first leg 2-1, giving them a slight advantage before this critical fixture at the Metropolitano Stadium. Despite this edge, Tchouameni insisted his team will not play conservatively.
"Tomorrow we're not going for a draw or anything. We want to win and we will give everything to take this game," he said confidently.
The French midfielder expects an intense battle from Atletico Madrid but insists Real Madrid know exactly how to respond.
"They are going to play a very intense duel in attack, but we know what we have to do in midfield and defence. We’re in a good moment to fight for titles," Tchouameni added.
